One of the most common warbler species ringed this week was the Eastern Bonelli's Warbler. In the morning of April 22^nd we caught a nice Wood Warbler with an Eastern Bonelli's Warbler on the same round of the traps. The Wood Warbler breeds almost all over Europe while the Eastern Bonelli's Warbler is from the very eastern part of Europe. Both species are small, having a whitish belly, are a bit greenish but it's easy to see that the wood warbler is much more colorful.

Mucho mas raro en esta estacion de anillamiento que el mosquitero papialbo oriental (Phylloscopus orientalis), un mosquitero silbador (Phylloscopus sibilatrix) ha sido capturado este día. La primera especie, desde hace poco separada taxonomicamente del mosquitero papialbo de Europa occidental (Phylloscopus bonelli), es un habitual entre las capturas diarias aunque su distribución es mucho mas reducida que la del mosquitero silbador, que se reproduce en gran parte de Europa central y oriental.

המין הכי נפוץ של עלוויות הנלכד בפארק בימים אלה הוא העלווית לבנת הבטן. בבוקר של העשרים ושניים באפריל נלכדה עלווית לבנת בטן יחד עם עלווית ירוקה באותו סיבוב. ישנו הבדל משמעותי באזור התפוצה של שני המינים הללו ובכל זאת, שניהם ניתנים ללכידה באילת בעונת הנדידה. העלווית לבנת הבטן מגיעה ממזרח אירופה ואילו העלווית הירוקה מגיעה מטווח נרחב של תפוצה בכל מרכז וצפון אירופה.

שתי העלוויות דומות בהיותן קטנות, בעלות בטן לבנבנה וירקרקות. עם זאת, ניכר הבדל משמעותי בכמות הגוון הירקרק בין שני המינים. העלווית הירוקה ירוקה ביותר ואילו העלווית לבנת הבטן הרבה יותר אפורה כשרק העל שת שלה ממש ירקרק.

Yksi viikon eniten rengastetuista lajeista oli balkaninuunilintu. 22.4 rengastimme myös sirittӓjӓn. Tӓssӓ kuvassa molemmat lajit vertailun vuoksi. Vasemmalla sirittӓjӓ ja oikealla balkaninuunilintu.

Barred Warbler (Sylvia nisoria), Yael Lehnardt.

The first Barred Warbler of this spring was ringed on 22^nd April. On the 23^rd we had a beautiful one. As you can see in the picture it was an adult female with bright yellow eyes and lots of bars on the chest.

Por fin llegaon las currucas gavilanas (Sylvia nisoria) a Eilat. Tras el primer anillamiento del día 22, el 23 de abril capturamos otros dos ejemplares, entre ellos esta hembra adulta.

 הסבכי הניצי הראשון לעונה נלכד בעשרים ושניים באפריל. הייתה זו נקבה צעירה ולא מרשימה מידי עבור מטבעים שמכירים היטב את המין אך עבור המתנדבים בפארק הייתה זו סיבה למסיבה, משום שהם מצפים למין זה כבר מספר שבועות. לשמחתנו הרבה יום לאחר מכן, בעשרים ושלושה בחודש, נלכדה נקבה בוגרת יפיפייה. לנקבה הבוגרת עיניים צהובות כעיני הנץ ופספוס בדגם של סהרונים אפורים בחזה, מה שמזכיר מאוד את הנץ המצוי. מה ששונה בהחלט בין שני המינים הוא מידת הכאב שחווים בעת שזוכים לנשיכה או שריטות מהטופרים.  

Olemme rengastaneet useita kirjokerttuja tӓmӓn viikon aikana. Niiden iӓn ja sukupuolenkin mӓӓrittӓminen on monesti aika haasteellista. Tӓmӓ lintu on todennӓkӧisesti vanha naaras.

Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri), Roni Vӓisӓnen.

Another interesting bird we had that morning is the Rose-ringed Parakeet. The species is one of the invasive species in Eilat. Since the late '90s we have the Parakeets not only in the city but also at the date palms of "Kibbutz Eilot". In the date palms the Parakeets eat the fruit and drive away the local breeding birds. One of the species most affected is the Hoopoe (Upupa epops) - the national bird of Israel. The Hoopoe breeds in cavities in the palm trees, and the Parakeet drive them away in the midst of their breeding season.

Otra especie infrecuente entre nuestras capturas en el día de hoy ha sido esta cotorra de Kramer (Psittacula krameri), un ave invasora que llego a Eilat a finales de los noventa. Esta especie representa un serio problema tanto para la fauna como para la economía local. Aves tan emblemáticas para Israel como la abubilla (Upupa epops) se ven desplazadas de sus nidos en las hoquedades de los arboles por esta cotorra que busca su alimento en las plantaciones de palmera datilifera que son un puntal de la economía de todo el valle de Arava

אחד המינים הפולשים הנפוצים ביותר בסביבת אילת הוא הדררה. מין זה אינו שייך לאזור אך כבר כמה עשורים נצפה בעיר בקביעות. בעשור האחרון החלו להיראות הדררות במטעי התמרים באזור הערבה, בייחוד במטעי התמרים של קיבוץ אילות. במטעים הדררות אוכלות מן התמרים ומגרשות את הציפורים המקומיות דוגמת הדוכיפת, הציפור הלאומית של ישראל. הדררה והדוכיפת שתיהן מקננות בחורים בעץ אך הדררה תוקפנית ביותר כלפי הדוכיפת ומגרשת אותה

בעיצומה של עונת הקינון כדי להבטיח בלעדיות על אתר הקינון.

Yksi viikon mielenkiintoisista pyydyslajeista oli tӓmӓ kauluskaija. Laji ilmestyi Eilatiin 1990-luvun loppupuolella ja on nyt valtaamassa elintilaa Eilatin alkuperӓisiltӓ lintulajeilta. Yksi pahiten kӓrsineistӓ lajeista on harjalintu. Harjalinnut pesivӓt lӓheisillӓ palmuviljelmillӓ, mutta huomattavasti aggressiivisempi kauluskaija vie niiden pesӓkolot ja harjalinnut kӓrsivӓt tӓstӓ.

One of the things we do when ring Parakeets is to put a radio transmitter on their back so we can follow them and learn their behavior better. We put the transmitter and the rangers of the INRPA follow the birds. We hope to collect enough data to understand how we can get rid of tem permanently.

At the end of the ringing processes Tzadok released the bird back to the wild.

Las escasas capturas de esta cotorra son aprovechadas para, además de ser anilladas, radiomarcarlas y obtener así una valiosa información sobre sus costumbres y movimientos que podrá ser usada por los guardas del cuerpo de Parques y Reservas Naturales de Israel para erradicar esta problemática.

אחד הדברים שאנו עושים בעת לכידה וטיבוע של דררות הוא הוספת משדר רדיו על גופן. המשדר מאפשר מעקב מדויק אחר מקום המצאה של הדררה ואף לימוד של אורח חייה בערבה. לאחר שאנו שמים את המשדר פקחי רשות הטבע והגנים הלאומיים עוקבים אחר הדררה ואוספים מידע על התנהגותה ומיקומה. כל זה נעשה בתקווה שבהמשך נוכל להבין כיצד אפשר לסלק אותן מן השטח או לפחות לצמצם את הנזק הנגרם לציפורים המקומיות.

בסוף תהליך הטיבוע והמשדור צדוק צמח שחרר את הדררה (בעודו ממוגן מפני מקורה החזק באמצעות זוג כפפות חזקות).

Laitoimme kauluskaijalle renkaan lisӓksi myӧs radiolӓhettimen kaijojen elinpisirien selvittӓmiseksi. Tarkoituksena on kerӓtӓ tietoa niiden liikkumisesta ja yöpymispaikoista, jotta paikalliset lӧytӓisivӓt tehokkaan keinon niiden poistamiseksi luonnosta. Nykyiset keinot (satunnainen ampuminen tavattaessa) eivӓt nӓytӓ olevan tarpeeksi tehokkaita.

Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur), Roni Vӓisӓnen.

The Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur) migration started this week. All along the Arava valley it's possible to see Turtle Doves flying around with Collard Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) flocks. Two Turtle Doves (Streptopelia turtur) were ringed at the IBRCE this week.

Esta segunda quincena de abril han llegado de forma significativa las tórtolas europeas (Streptopelia turtur), que se suman a las locales tórtolas turcas (Streptopelia decaocto) y senegalesas (Streptopelia senegalensis).

השבוע החלה באופן רשמי נדידת התורים המצויים באזור אילת והערבה. כמעט בכל מקום ניתן לראות תור מצוי בין להקות תורי הצווארון. מתוך כל הפרטים הנודדים שניים נלכדו וטובעו הפארק הצפרות.

Turturikyyhkyjen muutto on kӓynnistynyt tӓllӓ viikolla. Olemme rengastaneet vain kaksi lintua, mutta muuttolennossa olevia lintuja nӓkee jatkuvasti aseman yllӓ.

Graceful Prinia (Prinia gracilis), Anita Kiss.

 The breeding season at Eilat starts in January for many of the local species. Now, in April, many of the breeding species have started the second, and some even their third nesting cycle of the season! For many of the Graceful Prinia (Prinia gracilis) it's now the third cycle. The Graceful Prinias are enjoying a very good year of breeding because of the rains we have had earlier in the year after ten years of drought. In the picture you can see a fledgling Graceful Prinia.

 Para algunas especies locales, la época de cría comienza en enero. Así, a finales de abril estas especies comienzan sus segundas puestas y algunas llegaran a realizar incluso terceras. Este es el caso, por ejemplo, del buitrón elegante (Prinia gracilis). Las inusuales lluvias de enero en el valle de Arava han propiciado una muy productiva temporada de cría para esta especie, de la que podemos ver un joven del año en la fotografía.

 עונת הקינון באזור אילת מתחילה מידי שנה כבר בינואר עבור חלק מן המינים המקומיים (בהם תורים, צוצלות, פשושים ועוד). בעונה זו של השנה רבים מן המינים מקיימים מחזור קינון נוסף, לעיתים אפילו כבר שלישי.  הפשושים, כמו גם מינים מקננים אחרים, נהנים השנה מעונת קינון מוצלחת במיוחד הודות לגשם הרב שירד השנה לאחר עשר שנות בצורת קשה.

בתמונה ניתן לראות פרחון צעיר של פשוש, אחד מיני רבים המצויים בשטח הפארק.

 Eilatissa monet paikalliset lajit aloittavat pesinnӓn todella aikaisin, ja jotkut lajit pesivӓt jopa ympӓri vuoden. Monet priiniat pesivӓt nyt huhtikuun loppupuolella jo toista kertaa tӓlle vuodelle, jotkut jopa kolmatta kertaa. Tӓssӓ kuvassa nuori priinia.
