The International Birding and Research Center at the British Bird Fair

Between the 17 and 19 of August 2007, the British Bird Fair took place in a marvelous lake side location which was surrounded by hundreds of waterfowls and passerines. Between Herring gulls, Greater black backed gulls, Ospreys and Long tailed tits, Eight giant white Marquee's were erected to host the world's top bird sketchers, photographers, birding tour companies, research and conservation organizations, optics companies and birds book stores.

Traditionally the IRBCE had its own stand exhibiting our conservation efforts and research results. This year due to our new and improved tourism program we decided to join the Israeli  Birding Centre of the SPNI and to sell our newly developed birding products. In the fair we presented our birders information center, the day time birding tours, our nocturnal wildlife special tours, our new pelagic tours and the spring migration festival that will be held at the last week of March as a joint effort with the Israeli Birding Center.

During the fair, hundreds of birders showed interest in visiting Israel. Only mentioning the name Eilat was enough to ignite ones imagination and passion to come and visit our area. Eilat is a brand name that only needs to be mentioned and reminded and people will follow. With a more secure political situation and relaxed atmosphere of the Eilat area, we feel that bird watching tourism will be back to Eilat this year in numbers. Also tour companies showed interest in touring our diverse desert bird life and sprawling migratory bird hot spots.

I would like to warmly thank the friendly and generous hospitality of the Israeli Birding Center.
